Gonzalez fights his way into SF

gonzalez-viernes-05Fernando Gonzalez had a tough match against spaniard Marcel Granollers but got to semifinals with his victory 7-6(8), 7-6(9) at the Movistar Open where he’s bidding to win his fifth trophy.

The top seeded and defending champion battled for two hours and 16 minutes against the european, that saved seven match points in the second set tie-break before surrending against the best chilean player. The 29 year-old player now has 11 consecutive wins in the tournament.

The next challenge for Gonzalez will be Thomaz Bellucci and the chilean has a 1-0 record against the brazilian player, seventh-seeded at Chicureo. The ‘Bomber of La Reina’ is bidding to win the tournament for third consecutive edition, and fifth overall.
